I help researchers and organisations develop, evaluate and validate assessments they can trust.
Bashar Albaghli — Research Consultant
Whether you're creating a new assessment or strengthening an existing one, I help ensure your measurement is conceptually robust, statistically defensible, and ready for real-world use.
You've built a questionnaire, but you're not certain it measures what you think it does.
You need to measure something abstract, a trait, an attitude, or a capability, but don't know where to start.
You have an assessment in use and need to demonstrate, defensibly, that it's valid and reliable.
You're preparing research for publication or funding, and your measurement has to withstand scrutiny.
If any of these sound familiar, let's talk about your project.

Recent Projects
Developed and validated a novel scale measuring prejudice and negative attitudes toward the West, as part of doctoral research, from item generation through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis to peer-reviewed publication.
Designed and validated a multi-factor assessment of emotional competencies, delivered as a live dashboard with automated reporting, validated across four studies with over 2,000 participants.
Designed a dynamic leadership assessment for corporate and business use — built in two versions, individual and team-level, each delivering immediate automated scoring, from construct definition through to a deployed, working tool.
Chief researcher on a large-scale study of research culture across UK universities, extended to the University of Glasgow.
What Working Together Looks Like
I work as a research partner rather than a vendor. Engagements are structured, transparent,
and driven by methodological rigour.
Clarify the research question and construct
Design or review the assessment instrument
Conduct validation and psychometric analyses
Deliver clear documentation and actionable outputs
Who I Work With
Academic researchers and universities
Research centres and think tanks
Organisations conducting applied research
Teams developing or adapting assessments
About
I am a research consultant specialising in the design and validation of assessments for academic and applied research.
I hold a PhD in Social and Behavioural Psychology from the University of St Andrews and have over a decade of experience developing surveys, questionnaires, and measurement instruments across diverse research contexts. My work spans the full research lifecycle, from construct definition and instrument development to psychometric validation and interpretation.
I have served as chief researcher on large-scale projects examining research culture in UK universities, collaborating with academics across institutions and disciplines, including work extended to the University of Glasgow. This experience informs both academic outputs and applied decision-making.
My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and I regularly support projects that require methodological rigour, transparency, and defensible measurement. I also have experience teaching and supervising students in higher education in the UK and the Middle East.
Across all engagements, my focus is on producing work that is conceptually sound, empirically robust, and appropriate for real-world use.
